RETIREMENT

For a couple of decades or longer “dead on the courthouse steps” was my standard response to queries about my retirement plans. Things have changed. My retirement from the active practice of law is imminent. I have begun withdrawing from cases. I am declining new cases and new clients. The plan is to close my office this summer.

I yearn to be free of the tyranny of the alarm clock. I have family ties to a distant, rural area of Indiana that was my childhood “home away from home.” I will probably relocate to that area after I am fully retired.

Still, I will probably continue with the Calumet Law Blog though it may be authored “in exile” from another part of Indiana. One blog change that I am initiating now is to open up the “lawyers’ forum.” It is now a citizens’ forum.” Lawyers have not seen fit, since August of 2015, to utilize the forum for expression of ideas. Maybe the general citizenry will do better.
